| | This is a follow-up to the previous threads regarding getting import to work in an unattended environment. We have finally gotten it to work again. Hope this information helps others out there. We are running our import from an unattended windows service (.Net) on a windows 2000 server with remote administration enabled. From the beginning, we found that the .prs/.brw files were being created in the proper data folder by import.exe, but the .index file was not being updated correctly. Manually reindexing the folder corrected the mismatch. The crux of the issue seems to be a number of factors. - We needed to switch from mapped drives to UNC coding of the data folders.
- Make sure the c:\winpoint\user\userprofile.ini is present and has the correct folders listed.
- Make sure the c:\Windows\winpoint.ini is present and has the correct folders listed.
- (this was the big one we missed) Make sure the personal directory for the user under which the service is running has a \windows\winpoint.ini file with the correct configuration. For example, if we run the import under user credentials for user CALYXIMPORT , there should be a C:\Documents and Settings\CALYXIMPORT\WINDOWS\winpoint.ini file.
If there is a mismatch on the folders, or the folder can not be found, or one of the config files is still set for the old style indexing, the .idx file will be updated rather than the newer .index regardless of the setting in the folder.ini file in the data directory. As we were testing, we found a number of files that were missing from the server because calyx was not installed on that machine. We installed it there, but that alone did not solve the problem. It is possible that simply copying the files mentioned above will fix the issue and you may want to try installing it on the server as well. In addition, I resorted to logging on to the server with the credentials of the unattended user to test. It is possible some of the ini files fixed themselves during that process. | Thanks for the information I think this should help a lot of people. I hope in the future we will have something designed to work in the server environment so life can be simple for everyone.
