| | We have experienced an issue on and off where we get a message indicating that a custom form is locked for editing by some employee and can only be opened in a read only format. These are employees that should not have access to edit these forms and they are claiming that they are not doing anything out of the ordinary. Does anyone have any ideas? |

| I have noticed this behavior with the Merge utility that Point uses in Version 5.1. While I don't see it locked by other users, I do see it locked by my login. This usually happens when I tried to print a custom form before and it failed, so I try again. I have also noticed that AutoWord somehow confuses Word into thinking you have to save the Normal.dot. That file is always locked so I save it to b**llsh**.dot. I have to do this on every form that prints in some cases. The only thing I have been able to do is bring up the Task Manager (ctrl-alt-delete) and terminate any instance of Word. This releases the resources and I can print again.

| | In regards to normal.dot, check word. Click on start, run, and type winword. when the doc opens, keep it open and from the start, run, command type winword /automation. when the 2nd doc opens close it, you might get normal.dot error of some sort. It is more likely Word locking the file Try office updates. try a detec and repair under help in a word document.
