| | I was reading some posts from the old site and they all seem to point to the fact that hte import.exe program must reference a specific file to import from. My web app wants to create individual files for each submitted application. I want to schedule a task that imports each file generated into a separate Point prospect file. How would I achieve my desired result? |

| | We currently don't have a Point API, and I'll let someone from the Point team give you any pointers on how to use IMPORT.EXE. If I understand you correctly, you want prospective borrowers to apply online. You then want the online loan application to be sent to a loan officer who would work on it as a Point prospect (.PRS) file, right? Have you looked at WebCaster? It's a solution Calyx Software provides to allow brokers to set up their own web site in literally minutes. WebCaster allows online applications submitted by borrowers to reach loan officers using Point. The delivery type of the loan applications can be: 1) Email: the Point Prospect files are securely emailed to one ore more loan officers. 2) WebCaster Desktop: a client we developed that sits on the Loan Officer's windows tray and downloads the loan applications automatically. Here's more info on WebCaster: Info: http://www.calyxsoftware.com/products/webcaster/index.asp Help Site: http://webcaster.calyxsoftware.com/instantkb12/default.aspx?cNode=5K4K8A WebCaster Desktop: http://webcaster.calyxsoftware.com/instantkb12/article.aspx?id=10706 http://webcaster.calyxsoftware.com/instantkb12/article.aspx?id=10705 http://webcaster.calyxsoftware.com/instantkb12/article.aspx?id=10704 If you already have a web site, you could frame the WebCaster online application and not use its other pages. See this article for details: Q10112 - HOWTO: Knowledge Base - Framing Guidelines http://webcaster.calyxsoftware.com/instantkb12/article.aspx?id=10112 This might save you some coding time if the solution is acceptable. If you want to create a Point Prospect file based on a proprietary format of your own, it might be do-able with IMPORT.EXE but I don't know how that would be done.

| | We've developed an application in house which we will be using. The application generates a CSV which I am trying to import. I'm in the process of writing a VB script which will poll the dir and call import.exe for each file it finds. I'll post the script for others to use. |

| | Import.exe can import more than one file at a time using the auto naming settings in the folder. (It has to be turned on, of course.) One of the problems with Import.exe is that it doesn't generate any error reports. If it fails, you will not know that it has and you certainly won't know why. There is an alternative at www.mtig.biz/pxd.htm (all lower case). Indexing is changing in version 5.1 so the solution in the above web reference may not be effective at reindexing until the newer version comes out. If you are still using 5.0 or below, it works fine. To import from the csv without a file name, set up the import command line as usual but exclude the file name. You still need to provide a folder path but don't be specific about the final folder (i.e., prospects vs. borrowers). Make sure autonaming is turned on in that folder. -Mike mike@mtig.biz
