Hi Sue. I think there is a misunderstanding of what Point offers for your desired functionality.

1) While it is true that Point's "secured areas" that's currently offered has some limitations, we've implemented a feature in Point Data Server that might handle what you need for the read-only loans. When someone's files are read-only, they are blocked from deleting files. This can be done in PDS without having to deny users access to "secured areas".

2) I strongly recommend creating a pipeline report so that the AE can quickly see the desired loan officers loans in process. The Loans Search is not a recommend piepline view. The reports is designed to offer this functionality.

There are other benefits to running reports. Calyx provides over 25 built-in reports with little or no changes needed for pipeline views, and with up-front filters so that you can condition for the loan officers you want to run the report on.

PDS also has other benefits that Point alone does not have. I recommend checking into PDS. The sales team can give your staff a demo of how PDS works. PDS is recommended for bankers and is also our future direction to support the needs of bankers.

Hope this helps.

I think you are misunderstanding me.

I do not want any loan officer to be able to another loan officers files. So they are set up as "Read Only This Rep's Files ONly."

The A/E needs to read both loan officers files. To have access to these loan officers files but not the other A/E's loan officers.

I do have PDS. I do run customized reports.

The only way I could manipulate Calyx was I made the A/E the contact name under the LENDER.. that's my bank's name.

Then I run a report and filter and sort by contacts name.

Only JOhn DOE.

This has worked pretty well but the problem is when the A/E is out in the field and now goes into calyx and wants to see the Notes in the conversation log or when something expires, ie locks etc. It makes it difficult.

So two loan officers in a data folder with this rep only access. One AE in the datafolder with access to all.  Each datafolder would represent your teams.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

Yes you are right in a perfect world. But my accounting dept doesn't want datafolders for A/C or Loan reps.

We have just bank 2008 or Wholesale 2008 or Investment 2008. And everyone and their mothers along with the kitchen sink are in these.

I understand that you would have a lot of datafolders with this methodology but how does it not meet your needs?

Are you using PDS?

In general I see a need to allow user x to have access to a data folder and only for a certain subset of loan reps or processors.  This kind of functionality drastically reduces headaches.

Have you tried to administer a PDS system with hundreds of folders? It's a nightmare.

500? That's all?

I guess I didn't make my point clear. PDS Administrator is extremely cumbersome when there are a large number of folders. There is no "search" function for folders. My PDS system has 67 pages of folders (over 1200 folders). Finding a specific folder is an exercise in frustration and a terrible waste of time. A search would be a welcome addition.

If you had a search ability by data folder name, is that all you need? Do you need any other search parameters needed for data folders?
