We recently joined another company. They have their own pds and so do we. We're going to operate on their system but I would like to keep ours operational so we can access old files. Is there a way to operate two pds systems on my computer. Essentially having two Point icons each directing to a different server?

Thank you,

Derek

First I would setup for one server, then copy the winpoint.ini file to SERVER1_winpoint.ini and then setup for the other server and copy winpoint.ini to SERVER2_winpoint.ini. Finally I would setup a batch file (BAT or CMD or VBS) for each server with a corresponding icon on your desktop. The batch files should copy SERVERx_winpoini.ini over winpoint.ini and then run Point.

So you end up with two icons, each one putting the appropriate winpoint.ini in place before running Point.

You might just want to take the data folders in your pds system off line and add them to the new pds system.  That would be the simplest way.

You wouldn't happen to have samples of the bat that you recomend? I have this same issue and am sick of closing point, changing settings in admin and reopening point. Thanks in advance for your help.
