Before, I thought I saw a file for reports that I could adjust and make the report width of a column generate to a specific size, rather than auto adjusting.   Has anyone came across something like this?

anyone?

when reports were first writen there was an option for col which would set how many letters each column could have. this was an option because of other limitations at the time.   When reports was rewriten there was no longer this limitation so the auto size was enabled so data would not be hidden from the user.
If you need this kind of functionality would sizing the column based on the column name work for you? or do you need all the data in the column to contain x number of letters?

I just need the width of the columns to generate a specific size so it is not auto-adjusted.  I thought I saw some ini file or cfg file I could adjust for width= or something like that and it would work.   I could have swore I saw it one time a while ago but i can't seem to find the file to modify.

In the older report you could set the maximum number of letters in a column.  would providing a setting that sized the columns by their name work for you?

You probably have seen column width in some ini files, but they do not pertain to reports.

Due to the problems with the new reporting, I recommend that my clients export to Excel and use a macro to format the report. It's a two-step process and is far easier than trying to adjust the report in the Point reporting tool.

I create the report in Point then export to Excel. Once in Excel, I turn on the record macro and go about formatting the spreadsheet exactly the way I always want it to print. When I'm done, I turn off the macro recording and save the macro int the Personal.XLS so that it is always available. I assign a control key combination to it.

After that is all set up, running a report is easy. Just run the report in Point, click export to Excel, then hit the control key combination.
