We have had occasions where a new file has been created, opened and closed throughout the day while people work on it, then the following day we open the file and there is absolutely no data in it.  I have located the file when this happens and the file size is zero.  Still show up in point and we can still search for it by first or last name, but upon opening the file it is completely empty.  Any ideas as to how we can fix this issue?  We just upgraded to point version 6.  It seems like we had this issue once a week or so before the upgrade, but I can't remember the exact timing.

This kind of error is more then likely caused by a network error during the file save process.  Could you describe how your network is setup?  I expect if you are using PDS this would be a very rare event.  It might also depend on if you are using a network hub or a switch.

Odd thing about this though is that some of the people this happens to are working directly on the server through terminal service.  In that case there really isn't any switches or hubs to go through.  Our network is small.  We have a single Dell 24 port Gigabit switch with 12 workstations and our server attached to it.  All workstations are running 100mbs network cards and the server is running 1gb.

If it is a file save error, why don't the users see any errors?  Everything appears fine to them until they go to open the file, usually the next day and there is no data in it.

So this issue has happened yet again.  Loan officer opened a file this morning and it was blank.  User still not seeing any errors and not seeing any errors on the server or workstation.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
