I just created a new Data Folder with security enabled and set to be available
I created new users to access the Data Folder
When I go to log into a Point client I put in the newly created user name and I recieve the error
"unable to grant you access to any of the data folders on this system"

If I log on with my user name I can see all of the data folders except of the new ones I just created.

Point Admin is installed on a windows server 2003 Standard SP2

The clients are installed on Windows XP SP2

You might want to look in to pds, it makes centeralized access a little simpler.  You will have to run the point administrator on the client computer and add the new data folder to this clients list.

As a user who does this, let me say... it's a major hassle everytime you add a new folder.  You have to add the folder via Point Administrator on every end user's PC.

One of these days, I'll talk our IT guys into PDS.

The next best thing is to use admin installs with config.exe  It creates a central list of datafolders for the users installed with run.exe.  Its not perfect but it does help manage datafolders with out touching every client install.

When you use PDS the loan officer will see the data fodlers and files that they have access rights to.  You can still set permision so that a user has access to this rep only/this processor only/ or all files.

The problem I'm actually having is that the client PC's are not updating their winpoint.ini file. Each client has administrative rights to their individual box's..I can manually add the folder location to the ini file then the data folder shows up in point no problem.

You have to run PointAdmin on the client computer.  otherwise it cannot update the client's winpoint.ini
