| | Hi everyone, I am new to Point. My client has 5.4 and PDS. I have been at this for 3 days now and am seeking your help. I have tried to piece together all the topics and supsequent posts and am now finding myself truely confused. Point has been installed and reinstalled 3 times. I am seeking clarification to get me on the right track. I truely appologize if I am re-inventing the wheel... I have installed Point on a 2k3 TS/Citrix server. Point is installed on the E:\. Windows , Docs and Settings is on the C:\ drive. I have modified two lines in the winpoint.ini in the C:\Windows folder - User=UserAppDataPath and Temporary=UserAppDataPath. Here is my .ini [User Information] User=System Administrator Company=****** Serial=****** Serial+=****** [Directories] Folder0=e:\PNTDATA Folder1=SENTINEL Application=E:\WINPOINT Templates=E:\PNTTEMPL User=UserAppDataPath Temporary=UserAppDataPath [Program Version] ConfigServer=0 Program=Point Version=5.4 Build=855 Source=E:\Utility\Technical Data\Point 5.4\Point (D) [Settings] PLN=1 DATA_FOLDER_MGR=1 PPP=1
There is no folder redirection or funky login scripts - just drive mappings to common share folders. PDS is configured through the Admin account which I used to install Point. Point only works for the Administrator account. From here, what must I do? I appreciate your feed back and patience. Hewissa |

| | Update: I made some changes to my setup and think I have it working. Here is what I have done: I manually copied the 1.0.0.0 folder to the Default User\Application Data folder There was a descrepency between the userprofile\windows\winpoint.ini and the c:\windows\winpoint.ini so replaced the c:\windows\winpoint.ini with the one from the userprofile I reinstalled Point over my original install and rebooted the server. I manually changed the (newly) recreated c:\windows\winpoint.ini so that the User=UserAppDataPath was there. Everything else from the userprofile copy was there so nothing else needed to be changed. I logged in under 5 different users and it is working. I will test further and post back. Hewissa |

| the only problem you might have is with running credit(from services). when using the userappdatapath. So you might want to run that test case.

| | Well I have done some testing and I have two problems. Betafisch, you are correct. When running credit from services it can't find the reports. What would you propose as an alternate to using the DataPath? When modifying the Primary Data, default info (company name and such) the information is not retained. Any help would be appreciated. Hewissa |

| | the userappdirpath will work in 6.0 for now maybe you can create a login script that updates the users winpoint.ini so that it updates user= temporary= for the company information double check that you have write permision to the data folders folder.ini file and that it is not read only.

| Something like C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\calyx\user and C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\calyx\work just make sure the directories exist. My screen name is BetaFisch. Sepal is the message board rank.

| I don't know. I know a little about what login scripts can do but creating them is out of my knowlege area.
