We just noticed that the city re-populates based on the zip code every time you save or switch between linked 1st and 2nd mortgages. This is frustrating when the city that populates is incorrect (usually a neighboring city where both are included in that zip code). On a single loan file, the city can be corrected, but not on linked 1st and 2nd files, because it re-populates it shortly.

So, we're stuck with removing the link between these files. Linked files is a nice feature, so it's unfortunate it can't be used in these scenarios.

BTW, we're using 5.4a

By chance, there's not a way to customize certain zip codes similar to adding words to a spell checker is there? We don't want to turn off the zip code feature entirely, because it works correctly most of the time.

Regards,

No its based on USPS data.  You can however turn the auto fill off.  On the menu bar Utilities=>Zip Code Options

There is a file called zipcode.dat in c:\winpoint\tables which we get every year from USPS.  If you're going to edit the file, you do so at your own risk; please make a backup of the file.  You can customize it in your text editor to change a zip code <--> city match. USPS includes only the primary city in that zip code, even though other cities might belong to the same zip. This means the mail will get there as long as the zip is right (cross your fingers, USPS is not always the most reliable!).

Funny isn't it.

Why does it not hold its change in the 2nd mortgage that is linked to the 1st mortgage?  I can correct the first but it won't hold in the 2nd mortgage unless you unlink them?  Is this issue going to be fixed where it can hold both corrections without unlinking them?  Just curious.

Thx

Christine
