I have just updated to point 5.4. It worked well on 5.2 however won't open on 5.4. I get an error message stating " winpoint.exe-Common Language runtime debugging Services. Application has generated an exception that could not be handled" I am using OS 10.4.9 and parallels build 3186. Any ideas?

I'm not too familiar with parallels, but you probably want to reinstall the Microsoft .NET Framework on that system. You can find it on the Point CD in the Utils folder.

At what exact point do you  receive the error?

Thanks for you responses. I was able to get it to work. I did the following. I used the remove software control panel. I removed the Calyx loan bridge. I then removed the Microsoft.net framework. Then I removed the point program. I then reinstalled the entire program. As you know the data files are protected. The program now works great after I reconfigured it to all the lost settings. Thanks for your help. As a note I did call support before posting my first question. They told me that Macs are not supported however they did make several suggestions. It might be worth making note of for future reference. Thanks again for your help

Most virtualization programs need a huge amount of extra memory to run well in a production environment; if you have at least 2gb of RAM on your host computer it should be ok though.  I am waiting for Crossover to work with .NET Framework so more Windows programs will run on Linux. There is a Crossover for Linux and Crossover fo Mac as well. The advantage of Crossover is that it's not virtualization. It's emulation software, so you can actually launch MS Office (for example) right from the Linux desktop without firing up a virtual pc client.

I just received point 5.3 and I have a mac. I tried opening docnetframework in the utils folder but my mac needs to know what application to open file with? Do I need to purchase or download windows software in order to make this compatible?

If you have an Intel-based Mac running OSX, you need to first install Bootcamp.
http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/, then you need to install a copy of Windows XP in Bootcamp.

The other solution, if you are not using an Intel-based Mac, is to look at using Parallels
http://www.parallels.com/

In both cases, though, you still need to install a copy of Windows XP in the virtual machine.
