| Problem on either a fresh install of Point 5.3 or an upgrade to 5.3 for users with limited rights: When trying to e-mail a form, the following error pops up in a dialogue box: Failed to create c:\WINPOINT\WORK\Forms(Letter).PDF.
I've found this problem on three different domains, all on Windows XP SP2 computers that are members of the domain and users have only limited rights. Users have Modify rigths on the WinPoint folder and subfolders. Outlook 2003 on an Exchange server.
Patch to 5.3a does not fix problem.
My fix: Delete all items from Work folder. Log in as Administrator, create an e-mail with forms (which usually requires me configuring the Adminsitrator's Outlook profile on that computer). Log back in as the user. (I'm not sure why it works, but it does...)
Anyone else having this problem? |

| | Hi Pterrell, I have seen this happen repeatedly when one user is logged in and the machine is trying to overwrite files created by a different user, specifically the files in the "Work" folder. Do you have different users sharing the same computer, like different loan processors all using the same computer...? You can also try giving Full Control on the Work folder for the 'Everyone' group in NT permissions. This should fix it too.

| No, all computers are single user only.
Giving users Full Control of anything goes against my security training. But the Work folder is pretty "innocent", so I'll give it a try. (Just finished upgrading one companies computers with my technique--I'll try your way tomorrow) |

| Yes, Work folder is pretty harmless. Full Control should not be a panacea. You actually can get by with Modify rights too on the Work folder. Give it a try at least. You can change it back if it doesn't work and I'll help you figure something else out.

| Same problem here. This is an annoying problem that Calyx should fix. Running users with full admin rights should never be the answer. Thanks for your contribution PTerrell, I'll try it, but that's ~70 computers that need the fix. Granting full NTFS rights on c:\winpoint\work does not work for us. |

| | I tried to give my user's full permissions to the work folder without any luck. They still had problems creating an output file. My solution was that I had to give modify permissions to "everyone" on the workstaiton for the "Calyx Document Converter" printer in the control panel. Once I did that, my error went away. |
