We have been running point in a citrix environment for some time, starting with version 4. We are running Metaframe XP on Windows 2000 servers. Point is installed on 10 servers and is pushed out as part of a Tricerat desktop. One of the servers is used as a test server, so when the 5.3 update came out, I installed it on the test server. Now when we open point, it takes much longer to open, and I fear that we will be hitting some server timeouts during busy times. I called tech support, not really expecting any help, and was not disappointed. They took the usual, easy way out, and told me it is running slow because it is in citrix. I asked what was different between 5.3 and 5.2 that would make 5.3 open slower, and they said the update was just to some files and basically it was the same as 5.2, and it was again blamed on citrix. I asked then, why does 5.2 open ok if it is basically the same? Guess if you could see a shrug over the phone, that's what I got. Anybody else out there with that problem? By the way, in both 5.2 and 5.3 I renamed the pointvendorupdatecheck file extension to something else because I don't want my end users tripping it off automatically.

MESSAGE TO CALYX DEVELOPMENT: THERE IS A VERY LARGE GROUP OF TERMINAL SERVER/CITRIX CUSTOMERS OUT HERE THAT YOU ARE IGNORING. YOU COULD SET UP A TEST ENVIRONMENT IN ONE DAY TO TEST YOUR PRODUCT IN A THIN CLIENT ENVIRONMENT. BUT WHY SHOULD YOU DO THAT WHEN YOU HAVE ALL US POOR SLOBS OUT HERE DOING YOUR R&D FOR YOU? WE ALWAYS MANAGE TO FIND AN ANSWER AMONG OURSELVES, BUT THEN A BLIND HOG FINDS AN OCCASIONAL ACORN TOO. IT SURE WOULD MAKE OUR LIFE EASIER IF YOU WOULD DO A LITTLE R&D ON THIN CLIENT.
