| | We have been using Point for over 4 yrs and have been extremely please until the 5.2 & 5.2a versions. Since then Point seems to "hang" and get stuck. Also trying to access the Cardex or Title insurance tables it just sits there for a long time until it brings these table up. What's happened? How do I fix it if it's on our end. There are only 4 users in our dept. Thanks |

| | Part of the issue may be this "wonderful" thing called .Net. Contrary to the expert's claims, all of our benchmarks with .net show it executes significantly slower than "native" code in the real world. It does have some positives that seem to outweigh the speed issues, though. To speed up Cardex, I leave a copy of it running in memory. I keep the number of files in an active data directory to 500 or less. I periodically optimize my hard disk. It's still slower but ...

| Cardex should not be too slow now. In our timing tests a Cardex with several thousand records on a typical PC took a few seconds to open up (Note: the first load may always be slower). We also did speed it up considerably going from 5.1 to 5.2 by removing the row numbering. Can you check the file date on your cardexlib.dll file in the winpoint folder?

| I kind of doubt its dot net, I know on first launch its slower, but we have used it since 4.3 so it would not cause a sudden change in 5.2. However if we look were the issue is title tables which is still pure managed code, and Cardex. It sounds more like some kind of network lag with their templates folder.
