In most of our forms we have this situation with the signature lines...

<> <> Date

but after the borrower name fills in, the results looks like this....

__________________________________________________ ______________
John Doe Date

Is there a way to have fixed positions to prevent this spacing issue?

try inserting a table and having the underlines in the top section of the table and the Name and Date in the bottom section of the table. Once you have done that, use table properties to unselect the borders so all you see when you print are
