| | We setup shared form groups and then yesterday afternoon they were gone. I did a backup restore on our server from the PCL folder in templates no go. long story short I had to recreate the shared groups from a very old backup. I want to avoid this issue in the future. 1. Where are the shared form groups located for a network installation? 2. Is there any way to prevent something like this from happening, none of the LO's have any knowledge of doing this? Thanks Ian |

| the networked print groups are in your templates directory under the printgroups directory.

| | The network Print Groups folder is in the PNTTEMPL folder. I keep a copy of my PNTTEMPL folder on my hard drive. I set up a "Local" data folder on the C drive that I can select from the Data Folder drop-down list. This provides me with an instantly accessible backup of all of my Point template information (Print Groups, Master files, Custom Forms, CC Scenarios, Loan Programs) in the event of corruption or deletion on the network. I also protect all of these folders with Windows security on our network server. Only I can make changes to or delete files within these folderes - my network log-in gives me full control. The other users can only read and import the information. IF your office uses the Cardex Database, be sure to activate this network protection on the specific files you want to protect only, NOT the entire PNTTEMPL folder, or else the other users will not be able to access the Cardex. If you don't use the Cardex, it is easier to just protect the entire PNTTEMPL folder. One inconvenience - each time you load a new version of Point on your network computers, you may need to temporarily deactivate the protection, or log-in to each computer being upgraded with ypur network log-ins. It depends on the method of installation you use.

| | The network form groups have disappeared again. The form groups are only gone from the borrower side, the prospect groups are there. The is very strange, They just disappeared. The only thing I did was adjust the rights on network folder to prevent LO's from deleting files. I have e-mailed tech support about this issue |

| I think that's the cause. Try giving users full permission to the printgroups folder and see if that helps. I think if they don't have write permission, or if they only have read and execute, this happens. Give them full permission, see if that fixes it. If so, then you can go back and find out specifically which rights access is causing the problem.

| Are all of your network users on 5.2a? I posted this reply to a similar issue. I'm not 100% sure of the results yet, but so far so good.| I had the same problem on my network as well, but only with the shared print groups. The best I was able to figure was that some of our people had installed the new 5.2a update and others had not. If you look at the BRWPG.INI file, there is an INFO section that shows Version= the version of the software. It should say Version=5.2a, but when it would disappear it went back to saying just Version=5.2. My assumption is that if the application doesn't see the same version, that it overwrites the INI file. I just went around to all my workstations yesterday to double check that everyone had the update (sure enough only about 70% completed it as requested back in Feb.). So far today the PrintGroups have remained. I'll folllow up in a few days to let you know if this did the trick. |

| I agree with OriginalIt, in my experience would tend to agree with access rights solution, It seems strange, but it tends to cause that type of issue, Generally a Read/Write/Modify authority on your templates directory is a good thing. I ran into this issue once before and found it to be access rights. One thing you may look at is "are my Print Groups Physically there?" Most likely if they don't display, they are not there.
