... how can I add a field in my report that captures the folder name. I want to be able to generate a single report across specific folders and then be able to export it to Excel for formatting. Currently, I generate the report and do a whole buncha cut-and-pasting to get the results I want.

You can add the folder name to reports, just use "FOLDER" for the field id in the report template.
