| | This is a beginner's question here. Can you centralize your Cardex data so that everyone on the system is using consistent information? If not, what is the alternative? Export a master file and import onto individual systems? This seems very manual and I was hoping for an easier method. |

| | You can share the Pnttempl folder to make sure each client has access to the common Cardex and templates folder in general.. The following tech tip will explain how to connect each machine to the common templates. http://www.calyxsupport.com/tips/folder_075.htm Hope this helps.

| If your goal is to to have one CardEx and several seperate template folders, then here's what to do:
1. Locate the POINT32Cardex System DSN in the ODBC Data Source Administrator. 2. Use the Configure dialogue box to point to the central CardEx file.
I've got three branches, each with their own customized template folder, but they're using the central CardEx file as the venders that they deal with are the same. |

| | If you are already using a centralized templates directory and have everyone sharing the same Cardex, you can also disassociate the Cardex in order to use multiple Cardex databases, like per user, per branch, per region, etc. If anyone needs assistance with that, please let me know.

How does the cardex work in 5.1? I'm assuming that this has changed, and is no longer using the ODBC option? I would like to hear your thoughts on that.
Thanks, |

| It now uses an oledb interface but still needs the jet driver for reading the access format. So where-ever your template location is set to, is where point will look for the database. On the bright side it adds quite a few fields and new cardex databases will be in an access 2000 format.
