I would like to see templates shared from a central location that can implement changes network wide quickly and easily. If a change to a loan program needs to be made, it should be able to get out to the branch users immediately, centralized template control is the way to go.

would your users be able to access templates when not connected to the server?

Do you use different templates for different branches?

currently each branch houses its own PNTTEMPL and PDTDATA folders on an inbranch server (60+ branches). We are trying to go to a standard look for templates for all branches.

Can you elaborate more regarding the centralization of the Templates? Are you looking for centralization of certain templates only, i.e. closing cost, loan programs, master files?  How about Cardex? Print groups? Do any of the templates require different branches to have their own set?

Yes, we would like to centralize the Loan Programs, CCS, Custom Docs, Prospect and Borrower Master Templates, and Print Groups. All of our branches are set up the same way and we want to have all branches have access to the same information for redundancy and continuity purposes. It is very difficult to deploy to 80+ branches and 500+ laptop users if you have to make changes, like updating to 5.2. If each location were set to look for information from a single, central source, it would make things much easier for a large enterprise.

Helloooo...... JohnP !!!

This is definitely the place for us to explore templates! Nice to see you here!

So...

  1. Should all users in your Organization share the same Cardex? Or do different branches / regions / users need to have separate Cardex(es)?
(If separate: Separated by what (Branch, Region, User, Role, ?)? Why ie. what are the use cases that require separate Cardexes?)

  2. What items in Templates cannot be shared across your entire organization and need different information?

  3. Give your initial thoughts on Cardex and Template security. What access rights are needed to read various Cardex and Template areas? What access rights are needed to edit them? Feel free to invent new security settings or user types as you want.

  4. If there are any different flavors of Template components for different purposes needed - Does the same Point/PDS user always access the same flavor or does the same Point/PDS user need the ability to select a flavor depending on what they are doing? (Use cases illustrating your answer are extremely helpful.)

Many thanks for your time and the time of any others who contribute!

Some additional questions:

  1. How many versions of the Template directory do you deploy?
(i.e. at any given time, how many unique Template directories are required to support you business processes.)
  2. What's different between the Template versions?
  3. Why are the Template differences needed?
(If you can include use cases that is extremely helpful!)

Thanks again for your time!

Shoult templates be associated with users or datafolders?
