Bryan, That Charms in custom forms considerably helps us. Thank you! By the way, when I open it, I find a single blank page in WORD.

My apologies. I forgot the primary mantra ... "loan officers can't use computers ... loan officers can't use computers ... loan officers can't use computers". Actually, there are too many syllables for this to be a good mantra. :D Maybe a better one would be "keep it simple".

That being said, for those LO's with proper training and demonstrated abilities to remember to include things, the "additional attachment" method would be much faster. Also, there IS an automated method of doing this in Outlook through scripting.

Ok, I got this to work. I discovered the problems that were preventing Point from opening the file.

Did anyone get this to work yet? I am getting the same error that Bryan did and I really need to get something together by 10/1 or else I need to get booklets to multiple offices asap.

I agree with you 100%. That's the whole reason I was trying to convert it to Word in the first place. If there were an additional option in the Print Groups to attach static PDFs that are located on a shared drive or network folder, that would solve the first issue (making sure the LOs send it) and bypass the lengthy Word to PDF conversion. It wouldn't make any difference if they were included in the Forms(Other) attachment or not. In fact, it would probably be better if it were just attached separately as the original file since most borrowers don't want to print it. These sort of extra attachment don't contain sensitive information, so it's okay if they aren't password-protected.

While we don't customize the CHARM booklet - we do have it as part of the print group - this ensures that when our LO's select the form group they booklet is included when the email is generated from Calyx. If they have to add another document to the email from an outside drive - I run the risk that they will forget to include it.

Unless you're printing to pdf, I'm not sure why you would want a 38-50 page document in your print forms. Why not just print it once (double-sided) and copy it for placement in the application package. It certainly doesn't need to be customized with the loan or borrower information

Actually, the same thing would apply if you're doing a pdf. Just leave it as a PDF and include it in the email. I will guarantee this will take quite some time to convert to pdf when printing forms and will slow your forms printing down to a crawl (if it doesn't error out).

I used OCR to convert from PDF to Word, and I think it turned out great. There's just one problem. For some reason Point is not able to open the document in custom form. I have not been able to get it to open. The error I get is "The member cannot be accessed on the background shape." Try it and see if you have the same problem. Just rename it to charm.pcd then copy it to your templates pnttempl\customdoc folder.

9/30/07: I deleted the attachment in this post because it wasn't working with Point. Please see my later post for a corrected CHARM booklet that works in Point.

Has anyone been able to get the updated CHARMs Booklet (http://www.federalreserve.gov/Pubs/arms/armsbrochure.pdf) to work as a custom form? We've been able to use the old version without difficulty, but not this one. We converted it to Word, but Point does not read it in the same manner as Word. For example, it is 37 pages long. When we edit the custom form through Point, it becomes 58 pages (many blank pages inserted here and there). Or when we try to produce a PDF from Point, it results in the error message "Printer not Activated -30". Printing to an alternative PDF driver results in a 58 page document that looks just like the custom form.

We even tried opening the custom form, and the Word file side by side. We deleted everything in the custom form, then copied everything from the Word file and pasted it into the custom form. At this point, it showed the correct number of pages (37). We saved it, but as soon as we re-opened it, it was back to 58 pages.
