Same result after installing 6.2. You have to actually log in as an admin and create a PDF, or non-admins will get error code -41. Running Point as an admin while logged in as a non-admin won't do it.

Sure. It didn't have a copy/paste option, so I had to type it and I can't guaratee there are no typos (I don't type very well).

I logged into a machine that was running Point 6.0b as an admin user. I ran the install for 6.1 and selected the Upgrade option. The install wizard indicated it was successful. I logged out and logged back in as a non-admin user and ran PDFinstall.exe and this was the output:

Then I opened Point and attempted to save a form as a PDF. The error is definitely appearing as Activation Error: Printer not activated, error code -41. The only way I have to get around this is to create a PDF as an admin user right after installing the upgrade.

As of 6.1, you still have to produce a PDF once as an admin. :(

We had this problem when upgrading to Point 5.3 and Point 5.4 as well. It appears that the permissions set to the "Calyx Document Converter" are not set correctly. All we had to do was go into the properties of the document converter in your Printers and Faxes and then go into Security. We changed the security so that "Everyone" is allowed to not only print, but also "Manage Printers" and "Manage Documents". Close and re-open Point and it should work.

I thought they were going to fix this permissions issue in the new 6.0 upgrade, but apparently not.

Local admin or not, this is still an unnecessary step. The install should take care of this itself. Performing the extra steps greatly increases the total installation time, especially when touching many machines.

It should only need local admin. Maybe your group policy is some how disabling some of the local admin rights?

I had this occur today, however the users are local administrators on their computers. If I login as myself on their computers (domain administrator) and email it works. They then login as themselves and it works just as you describe here. However this isn't really practical, why does it require me to perform this function first just because im a domain administrator when they are already set as local admin on their computers?

awesome....that worked...I actually right clicked on point..chose run as administrator...then chose email then forms...then send as pdf...it worked..then I double checked that it would still work when resending as just the power user. Thanks for your help I'm sure others will find this useful.

try to do this print job once as admin. I think that is all it will take for the print driver to register itself

Windows XP...the users themselves are power users...but they have full rights to the printers

when anyone in my company try's to import a point file to a pdf for email, we receive the error that the printer is not activated with the error code -41.

any ideas?
