The typing seems delayed and refreshes/scrolling seems slow. There are no network issues, and all other published applications on this server run fine. There are no resource issues with the machine.

We were unable to move Calyx to our nicer 2008 xenapp 5 servers because of constant lockups, etc with the amyuni pdf driver. Amyuni says they dont support 2008 server with the version of their driver calyx is still using.

long story short, does anyone else notice slowness on screen refreshes and/or typing delays with calyx in citrix? Anyone found a way to get Calyx to run on 2008 x64 xenapp servers without locking up constantly (and yes I have read ALL the documents about changing port names, and permissions, etc)? Are there any adjustments to calyx that can be made to limit screen drawing, or increase performance?

It really seems a shame that we can type faster than the program can display the text..........

we are at sub 1ms network times on the local LAN, no wan involved. Changing color depth, speedscreen options, etc have little/no effect.

Citrix PDS users losing files all a sudden

Over the past two weeks we have had helpdesk calls that files are missing after being created or moved to another folder. Having run with many previous point updates. Although I generally wait for new versions to weed out the bugs. The most recent [forced] regulatory update to Point 7.2SP1 has caused issues though with users crashing in Point regularly. I have tested various things to rectify. From replacing MFC90.DLL's with a lesser versions. Wiping the \Application Data\Calyx folders, Running users with elevated permissions as Power User {in test mode}. All of these still result in crashes. Even as a full blown Admin it crashes, just not as often. Has anyone using terminal services or local PC installs of 7.2SP1 seen this happen?

There is one crash that I can force: When logged on as a standard 'test' user then running Point. I then wait..wait..wait at the Point login box, and just don't sign in. Within 60-90 seconds it will crash with the following error. [img]http://www.legacyg.com/info/pointerrors.jpg[/img]

I can reproduce this error all day long, except as full Admin. Admin level errors are more sporadic, but have experienced them myself while changing Company Defaults, and Loan Rep lists.

Also the only other software packages that have changed recently in the last 3-4 weeks are Adobe Reader 9.2, DelMar DataTrac client 9.2, and various windows updates.

If you have any insight I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Save as PDF to local machine, Freeze

Encountering an issue when trying to "Save as PDF" and save to the local workstation, rather than the terminal server. Local drive redirection/mapping is enabled so the "Save As.." box shows C on TSClient, etc. However, when trying to save the file, Point hangs for ~8 minutes before the process completes. The strange thing is that the file appears in the save location almost immediately and can be opened but after 8 minutes the file size changes slightly.

Example:

New loan file, Save as PDF Loan Application - All Pages, point to C on TSClient.
File size immediately after = 24.8k
File size after 8 minutes = 24.6k

This happens with any form, custom or regular and as I mentioned above, I can save and open the file within seconds and view what appears to be a complete form but Point continues to hang there. Saving as PDF to the local TS works fine, and printing to local machine printers works fine. I can even print to PDF and save to the local machine without any problems. Windows firewall is off on both sides, removed AV for testing purposes, etc. Exporting (FNM, etc) to the local machine works flawlessly.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Point 7.2 unable to view credit report

On 2003 Server, TS users are able to pull credit, but unable to view the credit report. Worked like a charm in my 2003, load balanced, dual Citrix environment. I'm finding, though, that Point administrator is no longer able to pull a folder list for individual users since the update. I'm guessing it too is pulling from the \windows\winpoint.ini file because when I edit under any user's account, it updates the windows file and not the profile version.

Is anyone else running Server 2003 seeing that behavior?

Point 7.0 sp1 causes pcf.exe to stop working

Citrix: each user has winpoint.ini in their home directory of H:\. The following is how I installed and configured Point 7.0 and 6.2 on terminal server 2008. This should work for Server 2003 also.

1. I typically create an account on the domain named "Setup" I install all programs under this account and then copy this account's profile to the default user profile. For Server 2003 it is C:\Documents and Settings\Default User and for Server 2008 it is C:\Users\Default

2. I setup the terminal server, get updates, join it to the domain, install all other applications get their updates etc. I leave Calyx Point for last.

3.Install Calyx Point under the Setup account. I configure point using Point Administrator. All this program does is modifies the WinPoint.ini file under C:\Windows\ Once I have point configured exactly the way I want it, I log off Setup and then login under administrator and then copy over Setup's profile to the default profile.

So far this should be very easy.

4. I create a VBS login script and a .bat script for the users that are going to use the Terminal Server. Below is my login script. I X'd out some things that are private to my organization.

This is the VBS Script. This should be run first. At the end it will call and run the .bat file that is named: move.bat

Option explicit
on error resume next

dim objFSO, objFile, objShell, objNetwork01, oShell, WSHShell, UserName, Profile
dim System

Set objNetwork01 = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set oShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Set WSHShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")

UserName = oShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%UserName%")
Profile = oShell.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%Userprofile%")

Set objFile = objFSO.CreateFolder (profile + "\AppData\Local\VirtualStore")
Set objFile = objFSO.CreateFolder (profile + "\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows")
Set objFile = objFSO.CreateTextFile (profile + "\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows\Winpoint.txt")
objFile.WriteLine("[User Information]")
objFile.WriteLine("Company=Ace Lending LLC")
objFile.WriteLine("Serial=XXX-XXXX-XXXXX")
objFile.WriteLine("User=Windows User")
objFile.WriteLine("GUID=Yours goes here")
objFile.WriteLine("Serial+=Yours goes here")
objFile.WriteLine("[Program Version]")
objFile.WriteLine("Build=1043")
objFile.WriteLine("ConfigServer=0")
objFile.WriteLine("Program=Point")
objFile.WriteLine("Source=C:\Utils\Client\")
objFile.WriteLine("Version=7.0")
objFile.WriteLine("[Settings]")
objFile.WriteLine("DATA_FOLDER_MGR=1")
objFile.WriteLine("LastDLLRegister=1043")
objFile.WriteLine("ClassName=Afx:00400000:8:00010003:00000000:002700FD")
objFile.WriteLine("[PDS]")
objFile.WriteLine("Enable=1")
objFile.WriteLine("SecurityKey=Yours goes here")
objFile.WriteLine("WebService=Yours goes here")
objFile.WriteLine("[Directories]")
objFile.WriteLine("Application=C:\WINPOINT\")
objFile.WriteLine("Templates=C:\PNTTEMPL\")
objFile.WriteLine("Folder0=C:\PNTDATA\")
objFile.WriteLine("Folder1=SENTINEL")
objFile.WriteLine("Temporary=" & profile & "\AppData\Roaming\Calyx Software\Point\Work")
objFile.WriteLine("[Point Size Info]")
objFile.WriteLine("Max=1")
objFile.WriteLine("Top=0")
objFile.WriteLine("Left=0")
objFile.WriteLine("Bottom=600")
objFile.WriteLine("Right=800")
objFile.Close
WSHShell.Run ("\\acelendingllc.internal\sysvol\acelendingllc.com\scripts\move.bat")
WScript.Quit

What this VBS Script does is creates a file named WinPoint.txt It creates a text file because this script will not write to an .ini file. The move.bat script simply renames WinPoint.txt to WinPoint.ini so that Point can get is configuration parameters.

If you look the VBS script will create this winpoint file for each and every user that logs in and create it under their user profile. This needs to be done because of how Terminal Services operates. The user can not directly access certain files in the C:\Windows directory. So the terminal server will create these files under a temp directory in the users profile. If the winpoint file does exist when point is launched it will create a blank one with no settings. The above VBS Script will create the winpoint file with the settings the user needs.

Now how did I come up with the values for the winpoint file that is created under each users profile. Do you remember when I was logged in as setup and run point administrator? and configured it? This like I said above modifies the C:\Windows\WinPoint.ini file. This is where I copied values for up above. If you do that, your Terminal server should be able to run point with out any problems.

I saved this script as pointinstall.vbs in the sysvol and then the scripts folder directory of the domain and then used group policy to apply the script to the users who will be using the terminal server.

The last part is the move.bat which will also sit in the sysvol directory in the scripts folder for the domain. The code for move.bat is:

C:
cd %userprofile%
cd AppData
cd Local
cd VirtualStore
cd Windows
move Winpoint.txt Winpoint.ini

I hope this helps. If anyone needs any further assistance I would be more than happy to help. You need you may email me directly at scottp@acelendingllc.com I would prefer posting a response to this thread so that everyone else can see what issues may arise.

Any Issues with 6.2b install?

Hello, I have Calyx point set up in a TS environment. I have narrowed down as to what happens, after the loan is open, go to Services, Credit Reports, View Credit, it shows part of customers info, after clicking on either Web or PDF view, it goes directly to Page cannot be displayed. Now, if I rerun the following steps without clicking on Web or PDF view, go into the user's local profile on the server where the work folder is stored and open the HTML file, it shows the same page after clicking on View Credit, then IE prompts to allow the activeX control to run. I click on allow, click on Web or PDF view and it works fine. After viewing both ways, I go back to Point leaving the View Credit window open then click on Web or PDF view, page cannot be displayed comes up again... Not touching again, I go back to the user's work folder where the HTML file is, open it and it has alot of garbled text of nothing... I delete the file, close the View Credit window in Point, view credit again and the problem happens again... But this did go away for some people... Now, the problem came back for those people after recreating a new roaming profile to another server... Most people are trying to charge for it. Well, here is what I do to setup Point. There may be a few steps missing, but in general this is how I've setup Point on TS 2000 and 2003. It's worked with almost all versions(had a couple issues with 4.3, but that was probably my fault because I tried to skip a step or two).

None of the scripts are commented or even written that well, but it works. I've had this process running for 10-300 users w/o any real issues. If you have a TS farm it's pretty easy to modify to work with that too.

Here’s how out setup works:

1.Login to TS as Admin equivalent user.
2.At command prompt: change user /install
3.Install Point 5.1 standard install
4.At command prompt: change user /execute (I think this is the right command to get back to execute mode)
5.Copy Winpoint directory to c:\documents and settings\default user\winpoint directory
6.Copy Winpoint directory to d:\zwinpoint (probably not the best name or place to keep this, but makes life easier). I keep it on D: because we hide the C drive from the users.
7.Login as a non-admin user
8.Scripts that we run to get point setup per user and make sure that they have the most current version:
9.Main Login
*********************************
snip
IF '%COMPUTERNAME%' == 'TSSRV' goto :TSSRV
:TSSRV
subst w: "%userprofile%\winpoint"
:END
snip
*********************************
10.PntVersionChk.vbs – First thing I do is check to see if the user has the current version of Point in their User Profile. If not, I copy in the new version of Point, based on the zWinpoint directory. We’ve had issues copying out of the C:\winpoint directory while other users are using Point on the same server, so that’s the reason I created d:\zWinPoint
*********************************
Dim filesys, WshShell, NewPoint, CrntPoint, NewPntDate, CrntPntDate
Set filesys = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
Set NewPoint = filesys.GetFile("d:\zwinpoint\winpoint.exe")
Set CrntPoint = filesys.Getfile("w:\winpoint.exe")
NewPntDate = NewPoint.Datelastmodified
CrntPntDate = CrntPoint.Datelastmodified
If NewPntDate > crntpntdate Then
msgbox "An outdated version of WinPoint has been found!" & vbLf & "Please be patient while we update Point" & vbLf &" - Your friendly Mortgage IT Staff" & vbLf & "Click OK To update" WshShell.Run ("%ComSpec% /c " & "xcopy d:\zwinpoint\*.* w:\*.* /e/s/Y/R")
Else
End If
*********************************
11.WinPntINI.vbs – This file basically grabs some environment variables and pumps then into the INI file with a snippet I found on the internet. Allows me to update folders, standardize screen colors, etc. It also looks around for the winpoint.ini. It’s not slick, but it works.
'******************************************************************
'Script Name: WinPntINI.vbs
'Author: Larry
'Created: 9/04/03
'******************************************************************

'Script Intro: Perform script initialization activities
' Do Not Place an "Option Explicit" due to subroutines
on error resume next
'Script Body:

Dim WshNet, userName, tsSrvName, scrptVer, FSO, wshshl, winPntini(4), objEnv
Set WshShl = WScript.Createobject("WScript.Shell")
Set WshNet = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Network")
Set FSO = Wscript.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

scrptVer = "3.08.2005" userName = WshNet.userName
tsSrvName = WshNet.ComputerName
profiledir = wshshl.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%USERProfile%")
windowsdir = wshshl.ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%windir%")
winPntini(0) = "h:\windows\winpoint.ini"
winPntini(1) = windowsdir & "\winpoint.ini"
winpntini(2) = "c:\windows\winpoint.ini"
winpntini(3) = "c:\winnt\winpoint.ini"

'Script Body:
For Each x In winPntini
If (fso.fileexists(x)) Then
writeinistring "settings", "AutoSave", "1", x
writeinistring "User Information", "User", userName & " " & tsSrvName & " v" & scrptVer, x
writeinistring "Directories", "Templates", "p:\PNTTEMPL", x
writeinistring "Directories", "Folder0", "p:\ACTIVE", x
writeinistring "Directories", "Folder1", "p:\Closed", x
writeinistring "Directories", "Folder4", "p:\Prospects", x
writeinistring "Directories", "Folder5", "SENTINEL", x
writeinistring "Screen Colors", "Title", "0,0,128", x
writeinistring "Screen Colors", "Label", "0,0,0", x
writeinistring "Screen Colors", "SelectedFld/Btn/Box", "0,255,255", x
writeinistring "Screen Colors", "SelectedFldData", "0,0,0", x
writeinistring "Screen Colors", "CalculatedFldData", "128,0,0", x
writeinistring "Shortcut Button Info", "SmartList", "0", x

End If
Next
If tsSrvName = "TSSRV" Then
writeinistring "Directories", "Application", profiledir + "\winpoint", "h:\windows\winpoint.ini"
writeinistring "Directories", "User", profiledir + "\winpoint\user", "h:\windows\winpoint.ini"
End If

'Work with INI files In VBS (ASP/WSH)
'v1.00
'2003 Antonin Foller, PSTRUH Software, http://www.motobit.com
'Function GetINIString(Section, KeyName, Default, FileName)
'Sub WriteINIString(Section, KeyName, Value, FileName)

Sub WriteINIString(Section, KeyName, Value, FileName)
Dim INIContents, PosSection, PosEndSection

'Get contents of the INI file As a string
INIContents = GetFile(FileName)

'Find section
PosSection = InStr(1, INIContents, "[" & Section & "]", vbTextCompare)
If PosSection>0 Then
'Section exists. I haven’t really tracked it down. The beauty of this setup is that I’ve never had a problem upgrading. I just start the whole process over. Login as Admin, change user /install, install point upgrade, copy c:\winpoint to d:\zwinpoint. When a user logs in, it automatically updates them and they are off and running. The only downside to upgrading is that the user looses a couple of setting (print groups) in point. Would be pretty easy to copy them out and back in after the upgrade, but I haven't found it to be a big problem.

I’ve used these scripts in my environment for awhile without any issues. Your mileage may vary.

Hope this is helpful.
Install Point on TS

I have a strange one for you folks.

My Citrix Server is setup with no C: but we used an M: as the root instead.
