Installation completed successfully, but when I double click Point icon, or click WINPOINT.EXE file, Point 7.2 won't start, absolutely nothing, not ever the flash window, or any error messages.

So I tried to install Point 7.2 on another laptop, it never had Point software installed, installation went well with user/company/account ID from current employer, and I'm able to start Point 7.2 without any problem.

My question is, what do I have to change on the laptop with Point 6.0 installed, in order to let Point 7.2 with different account ID work. I also tried to uninstall Point 6.0 before install 7.2, it didn't work either. In years past all I had to do was from Windows explorer, C drive, copy both Point Data folder (PNTDATA) and templates (PNTTEMPL) folders and paste into USB drive, then copy back in new computer. I can see all data transfered to USB drive correctly including all borrower files, but when I try to paste them into Point on new computer nothing carries over (even though I get a message that it has). I'm posting here because I have no idea where to turn. My office tech support has no clue what's going on. Even Calyx phone support has never heard of my problem so I was wondering if anyone here has. I'm running Point 7.2 on my Windows 7, 64 bit laptop, and yes, I've uninstalled/reinstalled several times, even using other copies of the disc. Point is the only program I seem to have trouble with.

The problem: After working with a file for several minutes, I suddenly will not be able to input any info in any field on any page. Even copy/paste will not work. Furthermore, if I hit the "Backspace" key, a small square will appear in the field. These small squares are literally the only the input I can place in a field. This glitch seems to occur and then stop at random intervals. It is extremely aggravating, as a process that should take ten minutes can take over an hour with constant restarts of the program or the computer.

Has anyone heard of this before? Is there any possible fix? I'm hoping it's something simple like a keyboard setting that I'm just not aware of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mycalyx

We just got our setup info for Mycalyx deployment (new to Point). Yesterday I created new folders for this year in the Network Configuration Server, but when my users launch Point they do not get the updated list of folders. I unchecked the box Do not overwrite existing Data Folder settings and saved it, but that didn't work. If I log into their computers as an Administrator and launch Point the folders are updated. If I log into the computers as them but right click on the Point icon and select Run as administrator the folders are updated. I tried giving permissions to the winpoint.ini file but nothing. I can open the file and see the new data folders listed. There was a line break, if you will, Folder#=Sentinel and then the list of folders repeats except without the changes I made. Does that make sense? Well I tried deleting the latter portion of the folders, leaving the Sentinel line but that didn't work either. In reading other posts for installing updates and the like, I read that if you give certain folders/files/reg entries permissions. So I tried that too. I've even given the user local admin rights as well as domain admin rights to the computer and it doesn't work. So...what do I need to do to allow these users to see the new folders??

Title Tables

I set up the title table for Lender's title insurance, as I've done previously without a problem, but no matter what loan amount I use, the title insurance field has the charge for the highest loan amount in the table. What usually happens is on an older system that hasn't been used in a while, Point will update to the correct version apparently successfully. However, the application itself will not start. There is a brief flash of a window when you first start the program (which if you're quick you can see even on working systems...possibly Point checking for an update and not finding one?) and then nothing happens.
If you monitor the running processes while you do this, you'll see winpoint pop up for a second or less and then go away. Nothing is logged in the event log (Point doesn't crash, it just seems to close right away).
Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't affect this problem (you can uninstall the program, delete the WINPOINT folder and the winpoint.ini file from the WINDOWS directory and then do a fresh install from the NETSETUP folder and it will appear to install fine). Installing has been done using an administrator account, and the program won't run under the same account.

The only way I've found to get the system working with Point again is to fully reinstall the operating system.

Is there anywhere else I can check for mis-configured settings which might cause Point to not launch at all? I've tried copying the contents of the winpoint.ini file of a working system over the non-working one, and that has no effect.
Also, is there any sort of debugging I can run (and someone to whom I can send the results as I'm no programmer) to see if something else is going on?

point data server settings will not save

within point administrator, I am able to enable the point data server and connect to point server; however, upon exiting the point data server settings, all my data is deleted.

Can't Connect to PDS Server

I can't get Point to connect to the Point Data Server. Point opens without PDS. When setting the PDS settings the connection test is successful but when logging in with Point I receive the following error:

Point could not connect to Point Data Server

The details are:

The base stream is not writeable.
Parameter name: stream

Point will continue without access to your Point Data Server Data Folders and Cardex Database.
Point will use Templates from the last login to PDS.
------

I then hit OK and receive this error:

Point us unable to connect to Point Data Server(PDS) and will not open. Check your internet connection and try again.
If the problem persists, contact your PDS Administrator.
------

I've reinstalled .net framework, removed point and all point related files, reinstalled point, and disabled the firewall. What should I try next?
