Getting Custom Templates to Show Up When Users Log In

I was emailed a zip file of some Borrower Master Templates .bmt and Prospect Master Templates .pmt files.

I unzipped these on the PDS server and copied them to the folder that was created when I made a new template set:

C:\Program Files\Calyx Software\Point Data Server\filesync\TemplateSets\Boulder-CO\BRWMSTR

C:\Program Files\Calyx Software\Point Data Server\filesync\TemplateSets\Boulder-CO\PRSMSTR

I have given full rights to this template set to all users in the groups I wanted to see these templates.

These templates are not loading when the users log in.

When I look at the template list it shows 21 files, all of the templates I copied and rebuilt to see in the list.

What am I doing wrong here?

PDS 6.1 sp1 pdsFilesync.exe error

Over the weekend we upgraded to PDS v6.1sp1 and Client v 6.2. I started the forced rebuild of the additional fields. I noticed that the sync was taking way too long. I went and checked the event log and I noticed that I was getting the same error over and over again.

I was on the phone with the support guys and they told me I have to let the sync "run it's course" but it has been running for 2 days. I can't run reports and files are disappearing.
Can anyone help?

PDS Data Question

This may be an obvious or even ridiculous question - but here goes...

Our company is looking to develop a document imaging application which organizes documents collected throughout the loan process into an easy to find/use location. The technology has been used in medical practices in the past to organize patient charts and I have identified that there is a need for this type of application in the mortgage industry.

I want to use Calyx Point because of their Supremacy over the Loan Origination applications on the market. The issue at hand is that for our application to work properly, we like to retrieve the key data from a 3rd party database which will be the data which provides the indexing of our document imaging application. I realize that the data in the PDS is 'read only' which will be sufficient for what we are looking to do. But beyond that, I want to know if the PDS houses the actual data regarding the loan files. Can I query the PDS from an outside source and retrieve borrower information (Name, Subject Prop. Address, etc) and plug it into the application we are developing?

I have a lot of experience with the traditional version of Calyx Point, but not the PDS version. Thanks in advance for your input.

Problem with website security certificate

I used the Calyx Resolver service. everytime i try to get on the administration site i get the error There is a problem with this website's security certificate. Is there anyway to not need to press continue to this website each time?

Or is it best to create an additional group and just add all those persons to that group?

Using Point 6.1a and PDS 6.1.

We had a file "disappear" from a PDS data folder and I chalked it off to user error and re-created the file.

Then it happened again so I started looking into it and found the following problem.

NOTE: As far as I can tell, this phenomenon only occurs when there is an attached co-borrower file (eg. xxxx.cb1)

1-Open A borrower file that has an attached co-borrower file.
2-Without changing anything in the borrower file, Click "Bor/Co-Bor" and open the attached co-borrower file.
3-Make a change the the co-borrower file.
4-Now without saving or closing anything, click File>Open (or the open folder icon) and open the SAME borrower file picked in step #1
5-You will get "The file is already open do you want to open it in READ-ONLY" dialog box, click "yes"
6-You then get the "Save Changes to c:\........CB1?. If you click yes then everything is OK.

However, IF you click "NO" then the Borrower file Is now permanently GONE!!! Or at least I haven't found a way to get it back other than from a backup.

The co-borrower file is however still there but when you click to open it you get:

"We are sorry that your request has failed. The details are: -Could not find file, (PDS Error Code: -54) Please contact your point administrator"

Click "OK" and get:

"The primary borrower file C:\Users\paul\AppData\Local\Calyx Software\Point\AllUsers\paul\PDSFolders\7\BORROWER\08012303.BRW not found."

2 pds servers

We recently joined another company. They have their own pds and so do we. We're going to operate on their system but I would like to keep ours operational so we can access old files. Is there a way to operate two pds systems on my computer. Essentially having two Point icons each directing to a different server?

I am running 6.1a and I was wondering because I heard that its possible to grant someone the "Move/Copy/Delete" access without giving them the "Secure Access" feature. Is this possible, and how?

Selected Template file is no longer available

Our users are receiving the message "The selected template file is no longer available or it may have been deleted by another user." each time they log into Point and each time they Print. We are using 6.1 with PDS.

Any suggestions on where we might start to look?

Point 6.0 and new connection to PDS can't see Primary Data Folder

I recently installed Point 6.0 and hooked up to Point PDS. I can see all the PDS folders but my primary data folder is no longer available unless I disconnect from the PDS server. Is there a way to see my Primary data folder and any local network folders??

Read Only

We are having very rushed users that are getting peeved because they have made changes to a file while it was read-only.

They claim the Read-only notice is not there, at least it is not seen. My question is there a situation where a user can open a file and not get a Read-only notice?

It has happened enough times for me to suspect that the users are really NOT getting a notice.

Any ideas, or suggestions?

PDS Setup general question

Hello all,

I am pretty new to point and have just brought in a new client who is using point. Their company would like to get the PDS software and i was wondering what some of your setup configurations are. Currently they have no servers. My intentions are to get them on Active Directory, and get them a file server. On top of that my question is they have less than 40 employees and from my understanding PDS uses SQL. Would it be wise to have a seperate SQL server from the PDS.

The setup i am thinking of is

Server 1- Domain Controller

Server 2- File server

Server 3- PDS

Server 1 Domain Controller

Server 2 File/PDS

Since i have no clue how much of a load SQL qill put on the server, i dont know if this is the best setup to use. Also what are some of the general specs you are running for your PDS. I am trying to keep some of the costs low but give them the best setup for their situtation

Any help would be greatly apprecieated

Copying template set to standalone laptop

We have a Point Data Server, and are using template sets (as opposed to the PNTTEMPL share). We have a user who has Point loaded locally on a standalone laptop, and she wants to have the updated templates from the Point Data Server. Due to our laptop policy, she is not allowed to plug her laptop into our network and connect to the PDS. Could I just copy the templates off the PDS into the PNTTEMPL folder on her laptop?

I am getting the message, "Use Point Administrator to check that you have at least one enabled folder" when trying to login to Point. This is on a new PC, trying to run Point on it for the first time. We have a Point Data Server running the latest version, no other PCs are having this problem. If I go into Point Administrator to Point Data Server, Settings, and test the connection, it works fine. Any ideas?

THe import is is unsucessful but the .xml file seems to have the data within it.

PDS folder access

i noticed today that if I have for example, 2 folders created in PDS and 2 Usergroups with group A having access rights to folder A, and group B having access to folder B, then i open Point 6.0 as a user belonging to group A I do not see folder B listed in the data folders dropdown and vice versa. Is this the correct behavior for PDS?

New Installation of PDS 6.0 sp1 on win2k3 non DC with Godaddy cert, can get to admin, and service site with no problems. When I try to connect the clien to PDS I get a popup error form the test connection screen that states "The underlying connection was closed:unable to connect to remote server.

Suggestions?

User has Vista running point 6.0 Trying to Connect to my 6.0 PDS....I Use the calyx resolver and have no probelm connecting Clients with XP...I installed the certificate on the Vista box by running IE7 in admin mode then installed the cert in the trusted root authority store. I still get the error 404....any suggestions?

invalid Security Key

I'm getting the following error sporadically, for brief periods, one user at a time:

Client internal error: invalid Security Key. Client is not authorized to call this function. Please check the Point installation on the affected computer. (PDS Error Code: -17)

We're using the newest Point and PDS and it's been a while since we updated either. The error just started occurring though and the keys have not changed. It's especially strange condering that it only happens briefly.

Restrict company default/dropdown list while having "secured area" access

With Point 6.0b and PDS 6.0, is there a way to restrict a user from editing company defaults and dropdown lists while they have access to the secured area?

On a conventional folder, you can do this by restricting users access to write to folder.ini via NTFS permission. However, in PDS, users don't even have write access to folder.ini to begin with, so I don't think an NTFS restriction is going to work. Additionally, access within PDS is not tied to active directory, and they are not directly writing to PDS folders via NT authentication.

Is there any options here with PDS? It's become a huge problem right now. I had to give secured area access to users can manage their own files in their folders (every location has 3 folders), but the ability for them to edit the company defaults has some major potential for problems in the production environment.

Drop down lists case sensitive for access rights checking?

It seems that the drop down lists are case sensitive for access rights checking.

Example:

User name is Point is spelled: John Doe

User name populated in the representative dropdown list in the file is spelled: JOHN DOE

Security is set to read/write, this rep's files only

John Doe cannot open any file where the represenative name is in capital letters. But, where it is listed as John Doe (first letter capitalized only) they can open those files.

Is this by design? It's become a challenge because files are being migrated from conventional folders where spelling is mixed in all lower case, all capital, or first letter capitalized, but everything was populated in PDS as first letter capitalized only.

The only way around this so far is to give everyone read/write to all files, or manually correct every file, neither of which is ideal.

Local file on broken connection

if a user is on a laptop and they lose connection to the pds do they still have a local file somewhere they could access so they don't lose their work? had a lo that lost connection then battery power in the middle of an application. the file on pds was saved before he finished the app. just wondering if there's a place where point stores a temp copy or something.

Errors with FileSync?

We are running PDS in a hosted environment having 1500 or so users and about 250,000 files in the data folders. We have recently seen some files not being indexed by the PDS File Sync service after they have been moved or edited. We have also seen an increase in the number of files that seem to just disappear into thin air.

Going into the flatfile and renaming it then naming it back to the original takes care of the indexing on that one file, but with the number of files out there it is difficult to do that to all of them, not to mention the fact that until someone actually cannot see a file in Point we don't know it isn't indexed.

We ran the forced sync, but it didn't seem to help.

The event viewer shows no errors during the global resync in either the App Log or the Sys Log.

What should I be watching for in order to narrow down this problem?

Calyx PDS support has been rather lacking up to this point and none of them seem to be familiar with database management, so we have been left on our own the couple of times we have had serious issues with PDS.

Combing through the tables looking for things that appear out of place usually helps us fix the issues, but it would be nice to know the actual process so we can try to determine where the information is breaking down at.

Any information would be helpful.

Very slow when clicking on Reports & Marketing tab

We just updated to PDS 6.0 and Point 6.0a client. Since doing this, when we click on Reports & Marketing in Point, it takes almost 3 minutes before the screen will come up so it can be used. It was slow on some PCs prior to the upgrade, but now it is slow on all PCs, and slower than it used to be, even on the ones that were slow previously. Any ideas?

Data Disappearing - Continued

We are STILL experiencing disappearing data. Borrower and Co-Borrower incomes are disappearing. Liabilities are disappearing.

On GFE we are seeing entries in Field 978, 979, 980 that are NOT on Master template or Closing Cost sceanrio actually used. Entries are from non-applied Closing Cost scenario.

We are losing Employment and Housing data as well (on a random basis).

We are on PDS 5.4 and see NO errors in any logs.

ANY Ideas?

Saved credit reports do not copy over?

Users have told me that when using Point to move files between a locally accessed conventional folder, into a PDS folder, the saved copy of the credit report is not coming over, thus the "view" button is grayed out.

Access conventional folder on network share?

I have a folder that is used by a couple hundred convetial users that exists on anetwork share (CIFS). It can be reached via UNC or mapped drive.

Is there any way to make this folder accessible within PDS, while leaving it in it's original location? I'm trying to avoid the use of this folder in PDS effecting the couple hundred users who access it outside of PDS.
