Bryan, I'm receiving email updates automatically to keep me informed on forum entries and it would be really helpful if those emails included at least the subject line of the post. That way we would know if the topic was something we wanted to spend the time clicking through to. Does the RSS feed method deliver more info to my PC without having to log into the forum?

It seems like it only pulls the original posts and not replies. Is it just my reader, or does it really work that way? It would be nice to get the replies also, the replies are where the answers are!

A sidebar like the "Desktop Sidebar" will be automatically included in the next version of Windows (Longhorn/Vista), but the one above will work on the current Windows XP.

Good tip, BMT. Here's another RSS reader I like:

It basically allows you to get your RSS feeds from within Microsoft Outlook. It's free for Personal Use and use in charities or non-profit organizations. If you'd like to buy it, click here.

RSS is going to be big when LongHorn/Vista, the new Microsoft operating system comes out. Internet Explorer 7 has RSS support built-in so it will be really easy to subscribe to different feeds.

Using RSS Feeds

The Calyx Support Message Board allows users to receive RSS ("RSS" stands for Really Simple Syndication) feeds from any forum. You download and install a simple program, add in your desired feed URL, and you receive the posts automatically in your RSS Reader for viewing. It's a great way to stay up to date on a topic before visiting the Message Board.

Next to each Forum Name you will see an "RSS" icon. When you click the icon a new page will open in your browser. Copy and paste the URL from the address bar into your RSS Reader's "add feed" feature.
