This is truly one of those "greater good" concerns..

I'm sick and tired of hearing the loan officers and processors hate this or that, make it a policy they must follow and thats it. This should be your software's role. Considering it is a company that needs to be protected there are only two ways to do this have a system policy which an admin sets or the software just requires it. But the end result what you want to prove to a borrower if they ever ask or try to sue you, is that you made a good faith effort in protecting their information. It only takes one wrong key stroke and your open. I get Annoyed logging into my computer at work each morning but its the same thing, we trade an annoyance for protection.

RE: password on 5.2

I too wonder about your internal e-mail setup. Do you have your e-mail setup so that it's only internal and that users can't e-mail anything to the outside?

I say this as "one who is susupposed to know better": I have twice e-mailed documents for the internal RyanH, the loan officer, to the external RyanH, the phone company sales rep. I'm trying to understand the reasons you would have for e-mailing the files in this way. When you say it doesn't leave your internal network, are you meaning that you have your own internal company e-mail server?

RE: password on 5.2

We email our files internally - they NEVER leave our network. Therefore, Mr. "why would you do it" we have no need to password protect the whole file. Only forms leave our network. We DO password protect them.

Another problem - we cannot get the .pcf into Point now. When we double-click it we get the message

"An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. For e-mailing the Point PCF files you still need a password. I don't think this is going to change. Why would you want to send unencrypted Point prospect/borrower files over e-mail? Unlike PDF forms that can be easily cracked with a password hack program, encrypted PCF files have a complex compression algorithm, and 256-bit data encryption. I just don't get why you want to put your borrower's data at risk by sending their information through an already insecure medium like e-mail. PDF forms, I can understand, because they don't always contain borrower information. But a Point borrower/prospect file always contains an SSN, some income, addresses and phones. Why would you do it?!

password on 5.2

I have installed 5.2 and it is still forcing me to use a password when emailing files and/or forms.
