That would save me space in the home folder anyway and i woudln't need to copy the WINPOINT folder to their documents folder. After the update then, do I just need to change the Applicatoin line back to c:\winpoint ?

Thanks for your advise so far, very helpful.

RE: PointReport.exe - Error

Is the h drive a physical drive or a mapped drive? if its a mapped drive a .net application needs special permissions.

As a side note with 6.1a you will not need to set point up like this all the user settings and passwords are now in a user specific directory.

PointReport.exe - Error

I have Point 6.0b Build 888.68 installed on a Terminal Server. When my users try to run reports they get the following error:
PointReport.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Service
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled
Process id=0x1954 (6484), Thread id=0x1da8 (7592)
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.

I have my Winpoint.ini file configured like this in their home directory:
Application=H:\WINPOINT
Templates=C:\PNTTEMPL
User=H:\WINPOINT\user
work=H:\winpoint\work

If I change the Applicatoin line like this: Application=C:\WINPOINT the report will work just fine. This isn't a workable solution for me however because when my users pull credit they use different information (stored in the H:\WINPOINT\EMDBInterface folder).

When I try to open the file C:\WINPOINT\PointReport.exe it will open. But when I try to open it from my home directory H:\WINPOINT\PointReport.exe I get the same error as above.

It looks like the PointReport.exe will not run from any other location than its default folder. Anyone have any ideas?
