We need to be able to change the address of the lender, but we don't want to give access to the fields for the LO's just because it has caused more problems in the past when they were able to either change the data on the company info selection or letting them manually change the address of the 1003 because when you select to manually enter there is no data, and when they had access to the company defaults section the address was not being changed back and the next person to log in had the wrong address.

I guess what I need to know is short of creating separate data folders for addresses is there another way to automatically force them?

Another Rules question

Does anyone know of rule that can be created to prevent someone from sending/exporting information for document preparation out of POINT to our doc provider PRIOR to a loan being coded as Clear to Close by underwriting?

Restricting access to custom templates in Point (TS installation)

Is there a way that I can restrict access to custom templates so that LO's cannot modify them, just use them?
This is a terminal services installation, not PDS installation.

Thank you,

Eric

Retrieving a deleted file

I am trying to recreate a fraudulent loan transaction. However, those filed ID's are not available under the Required Fields dropdown box. So I had to create the rule as a custom message. 2 questions:

1. Why are the Seller First Name & Last Name not available fields under the Required Fields dropdown?

2. In order to trigger the LO to enter the Seller's name, I created a custom message directing them to do so that will pop up when the loan is a purchase. However, since this is just a custom message, once the enter the Seller's Name the message doesn't go away (b/c I can't put a "condition" on those fields ID's as they are not available in the rules). This confuses the LO's as they think they are not being able to save their file. I love these! I am not sure if the rest of your Calyx users have dived into the use, but let me share how we have just recently used the rules to improve data integrity:

1. Required Fields for IL Loan - prevent LO from saving or printing from a file until certain fields are completed for a loan located in IL. (for example - IL License # in Track: Branch Team, Appraisers License # in Track: Agent - all fields necessary for the IL Audit Log for a Banker license.

2. Required Fields for Mgr to complete prior to Submission - prevent Mgr from saving or printing a file until the Track: Profit / Loss is fully completed.

3. Rule that prevents a user from saving a 1st Loan that is under $75,000 - which is our company minimum loan amount.

4. Prevent an LO from saving a file desginated as a refinance, until the Purpose of Refinance field on page 2 of the 1003 is completed. Our LO would miss this ALL the time and we would get an underwriting condition to correct it. Now it completed 100% of the time!

These are just a few examples of the rules we have implemented. Basically, I sat down with the processors and asked what information was routinely missing that they had to clean up and used that as a starting point for creating some rules.

I would love to hear if others are using the rules and what they have found to be helpful.

Prevent Changes to Point File by LO While in Underwriting

We are on Point Central. We have installed a fresh 6.2 netsetup folder on ther 2008 server, copied in the 6.2a EU executable and update the config.ini file as per Calyx instructions. We have also moved all of our Point files to the 2008 server with Robocopy to preserve permissions. We have unshared the netsetup folder on the 2003 server and shared the netsetup folder on the 2008. In accordance with Calyx technical support's instructions, we have run the run.exe file from the 2008 server netsetup folder and let it reinstall (Calyx Support did not advise us that we would need to rename the winpoint.ini file, or at least change the source line in it to point to the new netsetup folder, but we figured that one out on our own.) We have also re-added all folders in the Point Network Configuration Tool and the Point Administrator.
When we open Point we can see all of the appropriate folders in the dropdown list, and they appear to contain all of the appropriate files when a seach is done in Point. However, for files with names longer than 12 characters the file name is truncated in the Point browser, and when we attempt to open that file, Point is looking for the truncated filename and tells us it no longer exists. A rebuild of the lists does not change this. The file does exist, and we can open it by going to the File Menu and choosing the Open File option, then browse to the file in question. We can then save the file wilth a shorter filename and it will work within the Point Browser, however the original file still does not. If we save the file with an equally long or longer filename, it shows up in the Point Browser, but is once again truncated and will no open in the point Browser.

If we browse to the Point Folder Locations on the 2008 server from the 2003 server and right click on a folder, choose copy and paste it to the old share location, we can then re-share the old netsetup location and access those files (Point Administrator and the Network Configuration tool are still configured on the old server), and can access the files with no problems after a rebuild of the lists.

We have also noticed that if several files have similar filenames, say john_doe_refi_06 and john_doe_refi_07, they will both be truncated and have a ~ added so that they become john_d~1 and john_d~2.

We have been over the permissions with a fine toothed comb, and can find no cause for this issue there. Any suggestions on what might cause this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

User Login/File Issues

Hey,

I'm running Point, networked on a 2003 server with approximately 25 users. Duh.

Why is Point altering this field and how can I stop it?

File cannot be deleted

I have this file in point that I cannot delete or move to another folder. It keeps saying that someone is in the file, however, I have closed down all of the Point computers but mine and I am still getting this "Cannot Delete" message. Anyone have any idea how I can get rid of this?

File Security!

Hi,
I've been a point user for many years. One of the major issues I have is being able to control users access of borrower files. We have all our files on one server running windows server 2003. The file permissions within point are good for controlling the useage of novice computer users -- it will stop them from viewing or deleting other loan officer files within point. However, a user with a bit more knowledge can just browse to the point server directory from their desktop and then copy the entire folder. They can then install a point disk on their home computer and voila.....they can view the entire companies closed and active loan files!!!! This is a big security loophole. I'd like to be able to solve this without upgrading to point data server or encompass.

The permissions in windows server 2003 are very detailed, I was able to set those so that a loan officer could not delete any point borrower files even from their own desktop. However, I have not found a way to stop them from copying the entire directory of closed files (we have them organized by year). Of course I could set up seperate closed directories by year AND loan officer but this is a huge undertaking (especially for previous closed years). Loan officers need to be able to quickly look at their closed files within point when clients call in, but I need to try and plug the security risk of them being able to copy all files!

Thanks for your help

LOs and Processors and file access

I've got a question. I have LOs and processors. When a loan is sumbitted to processing, the Point file is moved to the "Processing" folder. When a file is in this folder, the LOs now has Read Only capabilities, which is what we want. We want the processor to be able to open, make changes, and save. This works fine is most cases. It doesn't work when the LO opens the file (as Read Only), and doesn't close it before the processor opens it. When that happens, the process can only open it as Read Only as well. It has something to do with the backup file that's created during opening. LOs have been instructed to close files, but don't always remember, and walk away from their desk, or go to lunch, etc. and the processor can't make any changes to the file. By the way, the files are on a network. Any ideas are appriciated.

Thanks,

Moving Linked Files

I can not find a way to move linked 1st and 2nd files from Prospect to Borrower without breaking the link. According to Calyx, the new product facilitates integration with a client's internal applications or with third-party vendors seeking compatibility with Calyx Point loan origination software.

"We are extremely pleased to introduce Point SDK, Calyx's newest offering that enables companies to integrate their current customer relationship management system, sales tools, lead-generation software or any other back-office systems with Calyx Point," states Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. "The Software Development Kit allows the transfer of data to and from Point and other business applications, streamlining company processes."

Point SDK serves as a two-way interface, providing the ability to read information from or write information into Point. It enables a company to develop applications that can access Point loan data from local folders or from Point Data Server, the company's central system for managing distributed data between offices.

Point SDK requires Calyx Point version 6.1 or later and a .NET 2.0 compatible development tool.

Source: Calyx Software
