Just wanted to see if I could link an appraisal for example, so that I don't have to exit the Calyx window to view the appraisal.   Or any document for that matter, faxes that have been scanned, etc.

Currently there is no way to open the document directly in the Point window. However, you can store a copy of the document in the borrower folder using the same root filename as the .brw.  So when you email, copy or move Point files the associated documents will go with it.

We are looking into providing embedded appraisal servcies in a future version. What format is the appraisal report (PDF, HTML?).  Are you using AVM or working with an Appraisal Management company?

Bryan,

This is a great idea but as I see this was posted in 2005 and nothing yet has been done in Point.  When will the upgrades include more than calcualtion changes, new searches and new forms?

I agree this would be useful, but how about take it one step further than just appraisals as the OP suggested?

If we could drag and drop Emails, faxes and scans (PDF or TIF formats), etc. directly into the Point file, it would be that much closer to being a paperless archive of the total file. Right along with this, I would prefer that these attached documents open in a window that still allows work to be done in Point. For example, when we are viewing a credit report, we cannot do work in Point without first closing the credit report.

Combine that with user/group-level encryption (LOs can only decrypt their own files. Management can only decrypt files from LOs they manage, Owner can decrypt any file. If a Manger looks at an LO's file and changes something, saving it re-encrypts it so the original LO can still use it) and it would be both convenient and secure.

Can't promise something definite in terms of timeframe. But we are in research and planning document management capabilty in a not too distant future release.

Just checking if this is still on the burner?  This would be very useful.  Especially with a good viewer.

docvelocity.com has a pretty good viewer but that's web based.  By good, I mean one that will let you manipulate and actually process a file quickly paperlessly.  Basic features would be rotate, create sub folders, maybe something where you can label the documents from a drop down list and then click "stack" to stack it in OUR stacking order.  I'd be happy to start off with something that would just allow us to basically just attach or store documents with the point file with no viewer for now.

No per file charges please unless it's something very special.  So special that we can close more loans by using it.  It pays for itself then.

Web based option even better that integrates somehow with point (then you could charge I'm sure)!!

Maybe make a custom print driver so when I scan something and it's a tiff, I can print it to the "point pdf" printer, and encrypt it like we do with the .brw files to email to my processor.  When she gets the file, she can save it to a borrower file on her end.  Or we could transfer via IM if it's a full file and too big to just email (and it will be encrypted so I'm ok with doing that).

BY THE WAY, ARE YOU GUYS EVER GOING TO COME OUT WITH A WEB VERSION OF POINT!!!???  I would love that.

We just had a demo of an Imaging Software with which we are planning on going "paperless".  We would use this software to capture all mortgage documents (not included in Point) (i.e. Appraisals, W-2, Tax returns, etc.).

This vendor says that they can integrate with our application (Calyx Point PDS) so that hitting a Hot Key will open their viewer displaying the documents matching that specific open Point file.

Their application interface is so simple that they have a build-it-yourself feature.  They claim they can interface ALL Windows applications and some Mac applications.

We will continue to review their software with a goal of interfacing with Point.  We will let everyone know about our trials.

Thanks for your help,

John Hoopes
