I am developing an internal, web based "loan application" in c# .net that is used by our staff. We currently have a separate server running PDS. I have successfully imported the information into Point using the import.exe method, in a development environment locally.

It seems that when I use this method and write the data to a folder locally it then populates on the PDS because I am running the client version of Point on my machine with PDS enabled.

I am going to run this loan application on one of our production web servers but I am wondering a few things:

1. Does the Point client have to be running on the web server to use the import.exe method?

2. Is there any known security issues with running Point client on a web server?

3. If I run a client install on the web server with PDS enabled and I import locally on the web server, will it populate on the PDS the same way as on my machine?

Thanks in advance for your help

You should not run point on a PDS server.  You have to run Point in order for import.exe to import the files into a PDS folder. However Point has a ui its not designed to run on a webserver.

Sorry maybe the way I worded it was confusing.

We have PDS running on it's own server and a different server that is a web server that is going to run my application.

If Point must be installed and running on the machine to use import.exe, and it is not meant to be installed on a web server, is the only way to use the import.exe on the client side?
