| Hi,
I have a question about reservations. Let's say our reservation time-out is set to 20 minutes. Jane opens a file and so has a reservation on it, and makes some changes. Jane leaves her computer for the night and goes home, but doesn't close the file and the computer stays connected to the network, with internet.
Does the 20 minutes mean that after 20 minutes of inactivity, this file loses it's reservation and somebody else can open it? Or does it mean that only if Jane's computer was disconnected from the internet for 20 minutes, the reservation is lost?
Thanks,
-Matt |

| What you described is called an "Inactive Reservation":Inactive Reservations If a reservation is not refreshed after 30 minutes, it becomes inactive. This can occur when the Point client loses its network connection or when a power outage occurs. The list of inactive reservations can be viewed on the Reservations page, as shown below:
When a reservation becomes inactive, the following occurs: - If a different Point user attempts to open the reserved file, the inactive reservation file is deleted. The new user now has an active reservation on the file.
- If the same Point user who owns the inactive reservation attempts to save the reserved file, there is no problem. The inactive reservation simply become active. This feature is useful when a client temporarily loses a network connection, but Point stays open.
