We have over 15 Calyx Point folders because we are trying to separate out pipelines/closed files by year/withdrawn files by year/ etc.

But it becomes hard to manage the dropdown boxes, etc that show up in the Folder.INI files.  I would like to just manually type in one perfect Folder.ini file and then copy it into the 14 other folders but there is one piece of data that seems weird and I don't want it to negatively affect me.  Please respond if you know:

What does the below mean in the Folder.INI, and does it matter if I copy on Folder.INI with the same FolderID into multiple folders?

[EMExtData]
FolderID={9ED7811A-2421-4F72-AB0D-9675480926AD}

Thanks!

First question: are you using Point and PDS (Piont Data Server), or Point without PDS?

If you are not using PDS, then you can enter all the dropdowns once inside Point, then use Point Administrator to copy the folder settings between data folders.

1. Open Point Administrator
2. Click Copy Folder Settings
3. Enter your folder password
4. Select the data folder to copy from and the data folder to copy to and click OK

If you are using PDS, then you can do the same within the PDS Admin site.

[emextdata] is not a Point section. It was mostly likely added by some third party program. You should be able to ignore it.

Its some type of id for the folder.  I think your best bet is to delete/comment out the section and see what breaks.  After you delete the section coping the folder.ini should not be a big deal the other program would give error messages perhaps rather then thinking all 15 datafolders are the same one.

What benefits, if any, would PDS give me?  Would it dramatically ease administration?
