| | Is there any way to find out where Point fields are? I am looking for "Opened Date" and have no clue as to where to find that field within the Borrower screens. As well, is there anything aggregate that I can reference where ALL the Point fields are listed with their corresponding Field IDs??? I have a mapped spreadsheet which references Point field IDs but have no idea what those correspond to. I could look at the Display Fields online but that's like looking for a needle in a haystack and was wondering if there's some encompassing, aggregate list where I could get these. Thanks! |

| | I can tell you that Opened Date is on the Track - General page. I also would like to see a list of field locations, not just field IDs.

| | Its fairly easy to find the field ID's: Go to -->Utilities --> Load Field ID's --> and choose borrower. This helps with field mapping for some custom forms as well

| this is true Ryan, but it doesn't help if you are trying to find an obscure and seldom used field that you need for a report for one investor. You could be looking for hours to find the location of one field. It would be better to have a list of field IDs and their locations in a spreadsheet.

| | you can also find a field ID list in the fieldid.xls spreadsheet stored in the winpoint folder. |

| | Currently the best thing to do is load the field ids in point and sit down with a loan rep or processor that knows point and have them take you to the screen and section. The current resources for field ids rely on the user knowing what data on such and such a screen they would like reproted and then looking up the id for that container.

| | Another example, where can I find the Loan Status??? Usually in application instances like this I can consult the User Guide and it gives me an idea as to what screen the field is on. An aggregate list would help tremendously. |

| Loan status is derived from the track general screen depending upond what dates have been enteerd. you may use the macro STAT inorder to report on this field.

| | When dealing with Point fields, there are three things you need to know: 1. Some fields aren't stored in the file 2. Some fields say one thing on the screen but are actually something else in the report 3. Some fields aren't documented at all OK. There's a 4th. Field usage can change from version to version. Be careful. Old Point files can stay around for a long time and if you load then save them, you could acutally lose some data. There are also 2 dimensions to this game: 1) knowing which field holds the data you want (the field ID #) and 2) where that field is located in the screens. I have found it useful to create a reference book. This is what I do: 1. Load Field ID for borrower and print every single form 2. Load Field ID for borrower and go through every single screen and do a print screen. Some fields don't display the field ID (especially in pre-5.01 versions). I document these in step 4. 3. Load FieldID.xls and convert it to an alphabetical index. Reformat it for easier reading and print it in small print, double-sided. 4. Document wierd fields myself one at a time. I load a Point file, save it, then make one change. I save that to a different file then I use a file comparison utility to find all the fields that changed from that one action. This tells me how the fields interact so I can select the best field for my report (or whatever). I keep these documented so that I don't have to do this every time I need the value again. 5. Separately document all the non-contiguous segments (like liabilities or REO) so I don't have to look them up again. With that done, you become the in-house guru of reporting and custom forms. You might even get a raise!
